Hello! I'm Susie.

Thanks so much for dropping by! I'm an illustrator, who lives in England, in the Mid-Devon countryside overlooking the Exe Valley with my family, including our little cat Nettle and gorgeous but rather cheeky cocker spaniel called Archie!

I have a particular passion for colour, nature and history.

I have loved creating for as long as I can remember and wanted to be an artist since I was a child.  I graduated from Plymouth University with a BA in Fine Art & Illustration in 2014 and am currently working on creating a portfolio to include several collections in surface pattern design. You can find my designs for sale on products at my Society6 shop.

My illustrations use Rich Jewel Like Colours infused with natural elements.

Inspiration finds me from almost anywhere but I have a particular passion for colour, nature, history and literature. I enjoy wandering through the woods or by the sea, gathering found treasures from wild places.

My illustrations have a tendency to be in rich jewel like colours often infused with elements from nature. Painting is how I express the beauty that I see in our wonderful and diverse world and I love to share that with others. My hope is that my art will brighten someones day!

Three of my greatest influences are Paul Klee, Kandinsky and Botticelli.

A Few of My Favourite Things by Susie Batsford

my work is hand rendered in pencil, watercolour & gouache.

I have always loved to draw and have spent many hours in the life drawing room developing my draughtsmanship skills. Consequently, drawing underpins all my work and then my creativity takes shape using mixed media; watercolour, inks, and gouache to produce hand rendered imagery, which I then bring together digitally in layers using Adobe Photoshop.  I love learning and regularly participate in classes to develop my skills further and consequently, have also recently started to work in Procreate and Adobe Illustrator. I often post about the classes I’m taking on my blog if you’re interested in finding out more then please feel free to take a look.

Thanks so much for visiting; my work is available to license and I'm always interested in new clients to collaborate with, please do get in touch by email battysoozle@gmail.com I'd love to hear from you!
